Jiva Materials Welcomes New Materials Scientist – Dr. Xiulun Ren
We’re delighted to announce that Dr. (soon-to-be PhD) Xiulun Ren has joined Jiva Materials as our newest Materials Scientist, strengthening our R&D capabilities at a time of rapid innovation and growth.
Xiulun brings a wealth of expertise at the intersection of functional coatings, flexible electronics, and textile-based conductive composites. His research and professional journey align closely with Jiva’s mission to transform the electronics industry through sustainable materials and circular design.
Bridging Research and Manufacturing
Xiulun earned his PhD in Textile Science and Technology from The University of Manchester, where his doctoral research focused on the inkjet printing of silver nanoparticles for textile-based heating applications. His work demonstrated scalable, low-voltage heating devices that maintained mechanical integrity and electrical performance under fatigue – a breakthrough in wearable electronics and e-textile innovation.
Before returning to academia, Xiulun spent three years as a Materials R&D Engineer at Shenzhen Zhishang Technology, leading the development of textile-based heating materials and smart garments that achieved annual commercial sales exceeding RMB 4 million. He also established testing standards, authored technical protocols, and co-led international collaborations with European partners on smart textile research projects.
This blend of hands-on industry experience and deep academic insight uniquely positions Xiulun to accelerate Jiva’s ongoing materials development – from eco-friendly composites to functional printed electronics built on our Soluboard® platform.
Driving Innovation in Sustainable Electronics
At Jiva Materials, Xiulun will apply his scientific and engineering background to support the development of innovative, sustainable material solutions that align with Jiva’s mission to decarbonise electronics.
“Jiva’s vision of decarbonising electronics through material innovation resonates deeply with my research philosophy,” says Xiulun. “It’s exciting to join a team where scientific creativity meets real-world impact – and where sustainable design is not an afterthought but the core driver of technology.”
