Jiva Materials Joins the Next Phase of the Amazon Devices Climate Tech Accelerator
We’re excited to share that Jiva Materials has been selected as one of eight companies advancing to the next phase of the Amazon Devices Climate Tech Accelerator – a program designed to help climate tech innovators bring sustainable solutions into millions of Amazon devices worldwide.

Launched earlier this year, the Accelerator aims to reduce the carbon impact of Amazon’s products by supporting breakthrough technologies that make devices more energy-efficient, lower in embodied carbon, and easier to recycle. For Jiva Materials, this opportunity represents a significant step in scaling our mission to make electronics truly sustainable through Soluboard®, our recyclable and biodegradable PCB substrate.
Reimagining the Materials Behind Modern Electronics
Traditional printed circuit boards (PCBs) are made from glass fibre and epoxy resin – materials that are energy-intensive to produce and almost impossible to recycle. With over 50 million tonnes of e-waste generated globally each year, PCBs alone account for more than 40% of electronic waste by mass.
At Jiva, we’ve developed Soluboard®, a natural-fibre-based PCB substrate that completely redefines how electronics are made and disposed of. Unlike conventional boards, Soluboard® dissolves in hot water at end-of-life, allowing the recovery and reuse of copper, components, and natural fibres. The result is a 67% reduction in carbon footprint and a truly circular approach to electronics manufacturing.
Collaborating with Amazon to Drive Decarbonisation
The Amazon Devices Climate Tech Accelerator – launched in partnership with MIT and Newlab – is a 16-week program that helps climate tech startups integrate their solutions into Amazon’s global product ecosystem.
From next-generation batteries to sustainable materials, the initiative supports technologies that can help Amazon meet its Climate Pledge goal of reaching net-zero carbon by 2040.
The eight companies advancing to the next phase include Aircarbon, Amprius, Azumo, Elephantech, GRST, Heartland, Quantum Cool, and Jiva Materials. Each represents a unique innovation with the potential to reshape how consumer electronics are designed, powered, and built.

This collaboration with Amazon, MIT Solve, and Newlab marks a significant milestone in our mission to decarbonize electronic materials production and promote sustainable alternatives to plastics in consumer electronics.
Learning Amazon’s Way: Innovation with Impact
The Accelerator began with an intensive two-day workshop in San Francisco, where participants were introduced to Amazon’s PR-FAQ process – a unique approach to innovation that starts by writing a press release for a future product or idea and then working backward to make it a reality.
Over the coming months, Jiva will take part in virtual workshops, mentorship sessions, and technical discussions with Amazon’s sustainability and product development leaders. The phase will culminate in a final pitch to Amazon executives in November 2025, where we’ll explore how Soluboard® could help reduce the carbon footprint of Amazon’s devices at scale.
