Jiva Materials Selected for Amazon Devices Climate Tech Accelerator
Jiva Materials Ltd, the UK-based innovator behind Soluboard®, the world’s first fully recyclable and biodegradable PCB substrate, has been selected as one of just 14 companies globally to join the 2025 cohort of the Amazon Devices Climate Tech Accelerator.
This groundbreaking initiative – led by Amazon, in partnership with MIT Solve and Newlab, supports startups developing climate-focused technologies that can help reduce the environmental impact of Amazon’s devices and operations. Jiva’s inclusion highlights the increasing importance of sustainable electronics in advancing Amazon’s broader commitment to reach net-zero carbon by 2040 through The Climate Pledge.
Pioneering Sustainable Electronics with Soluboard®
Jiva Materials was chosen through a highly competitive process involving over 400 international applicants. The company’s flagship product, Soluboard®, is a natural-fibre-based PCB substrate that dissolves in hot water, allowing for easy recovery of components and copper, significantly lowering the carbon footprint and tackling the growing global issue of e-waste.

Programme Highlights and Initial Insights
Jiva’s participation in the accelerator kicked off with an in-person launch week in San Francisco, where Jack Herring engaged directly with Amazon’s product, sustainability, and hardware teams. A key session, led by Rishik Jariwala, Senior Product Manager for Devices Sustainability, revealed that by 2040, 67% of the carbon footprint of Amazon Devices is projected to come from manufacturing especially from printed circuit boards (PCBs).

Soluboard® directly targets this emissions hotspot by combining low-carbon materials with lightweight design, reducing carbon intensity at the device level and improving shipping efficiency.

A Global Cohort for Climate Innovation
Jiva joins a select cohort of global companies pioneering technologies in low-carbon materials, advanced energy storage, eco-conscious electronics, energy efficiency, and next-gen manufacturing.

Over the course of the 16-week programme, the cohort will collaborate with technical experts and mentors to accelerate product development and identify new go-to-market channels, particularly those aligned with Amazon’s device ecosystem, such as Kindle and Fire TV.
